The Green Party put climate change at the heart of its election manifesto launch, pledging to boost spending on renewable energy and fund a free energy saving home retrofit programme, nationwide.

At their manifesto launch, the Green Party have promised to invest up to £80bn in renewables and energy efficiency over the next Parliament while phasing out coal and nuclear power plants and banning fracking.

The Green Party has seen a huge surge in support in recent months with membership now exceeding 55,000, the Greens are contesting 95% of seats up for grabs in Thursday’s election. Polls suggest Green candidates will only prove competitive in a handful of those seats but the party hopes the surge in support will increase its influence on the next government.
