35% electricity came from low carbon sources in 2014
Low carbon energy sources supplied at least 35% of the UK’s electricity in 2014, according to figures released by DECC.
The figures have increased by approximately 3% over 2013; an increase driven by an 11% increase in wind output. Along side this, coal power production fell by 7%, although it still accounted for a third of UK electricity.
The figures also revealed that UK energy consumption fell by 7%. However this fell to 3% when warmer temperatures were factored in, since 2014 was the warmest year on record.
